Photographer/ Writer/ Traveller
“Wonderful work - insightful, beautiful, rich, modest, unintrusive”.
“Loved the candour and openness of the people - Adrian’s photography always elicits this, the stories are at times heartbreaking - the dignity and humanity of the people is a humbling experience”.
“Wonderful use of colour and framing. This really draws you in to the people who are at the centre of the images”.
My Work
I began photographing people whilst visiting Guatemala in 2017. I had previously concentrated on architectural photography to illustrate my magazine articles and blog posts. In Guatemala I spent a day with photographer Rudy Giron, who coached me in approaching people and what makes a good photograph. I quickly grew to love the interaction with strangers, listening to their stories and in some cases forming a lasting connection. Rudy became a friend, encouraged me to continue and stayed in contact, acting as a mentor. I still like to photograph buildings, but street and portrait photography is now my main focus.
My work was first shown in the Maison Bertaux Gallery in Soho, London in 2019 and since then has been shown at Fry’s Gallery in Havering, the Jeannie Avent Gallery in East Dulwich and several public libraries. I also write about travel, architecture and culture and am a regular contributor to Jewish Renaissance and Spirit of Progress magazines. I live in East London, where I drink too much coffee, read lots of books and listen to jazz.
